Gowanus Expressway Design Shore Parkway Interchange Deck Replacement
The Gowanus Expressway Viaduct is a 4 mile long very busy viaduct which carries Brooklyn Queens Expressway carrying 200,000 vehicles per day. Siddiqui Engineering, PC has worked with Bechtel Sells URS (BSU) Joint venture in maintaining the integrity and serviceability of the 4 mile long Gowanus Expressway Viaduct, the largest steel viaduct in the State of New York.
Scope of work included development of Gowanus/Shore Pkwy interchange improvements and development of BQE connector replacement alternatives. SEPC developed roadway alignments, drainage design, construction sequencing and staging plans, and performed detailed construction duration analysis, and construction cost estimates. Other design work for viaduct rehabilitation included concrete roadway deck, catwalk and curbs, floorbeams, stringers, bearings, etc. floorbeam repairs also required full depth roadway removal to facilitate construction and replacement. Construction Cost: $18M (Responsible for 20% of work ~ $3.6M).
