Flag Repair Design at the Bronx Whitestone Bridge
The Bronx Whitestone Bridge is a heavily traveled, 7,100-foot-long, suspended span bridge, connecting Bronx and Queens. Existing construction varies, and consists of a 2,300-foot main span, 555-foot side spans and approach spans on both sides. SEPC developed design for structural steel repairs to the median stringers, fascia stringers, floorbeams, floorbeam brackets, concrete and asphalt removal and replacement, walkway steel painting, pin replacement at tower, maintenance and protection of traffic and miscellaneous work. Floorbeam repairs also required full depth roadway removal to facilitate construction and replacement.
