Replacement of Ridge Hill (Bates) Bridge over New York State Thruway
SEPC performed construction inspection for the bridge replacement including demolition, new inverse panel installation, parapet walls, Integral abutments, steel bearing piles, new steel beams and utilities (12” gas, electric, cable TV, 16” water, ITS.). The project was Public-private partnership involving NYSDOT, NYS Thruway Authority, City of Yonkers and a contractor.
The scope of work included the demolition and removal of the existing Ridge Hill Bridge, and the construction of the replacement bridge with approaches. The replacement bridge construction involved precast Inverset deck panel installation, precast concrete parapet walls, integral abutments, steel bearing piles, center pier construction consisting of cast-in-place reinforced concrete, installation of new steel beams, bridge railing and fencing, and 12-inch gas service, cable, telecom, 16-inch water main, signal communication, and street lighting installation. Work also involved the installation of a new culvert consisting of two 8-foot-diameter RCP culvert pipes to carry the Sprain Brook Parkway in the city of Yonkers, NY.
