MTA Bridges and Tunnels
Construction Administration and Inspection Services for Replacement of T-48 Roadway Wearing Surface at the RFK Bridge
The RFK Bridge comprises of three separate structures with main structure being the heavily traveled, over 1,300 ft-foot-long, main suspended span bridge, connecting Queens and Manhattan/Bronx. The side spans are over 650 ft long each.
SEPC performed construction inspection for removal and replacement of T-48 (low modulus polysulphide epoxy polymer concrete overlay) wearing surface for an approximately one mile long and six (6) lane roadway. The work was performed during a short overnight duration from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am due to heavy traffic at the bridge. The bridge was closed to traffic after 11:00 pm and opened to traffic at 5:00 am to maintain a proper flow of traffic during heavy commute times.
