Biennial and Interim Bridge Services Queens County, Region 11

 

Scope of work included biennial, special, and interim inspections of New York County highway bridges, including inventory verification and/or updating, Level 2 load ratings, and ancillary tasks. During this contract, over 200 bridges with over 2700 spans were inspected. Bridge types included moveable bridges over waterways, multi-girder viaducts, and concrete and masonry arch bridges. Several biennial inspections were of swing truss and lift spans and their approaches, including the Willis Avenue, Third Avenue, Madison Avenue, 145th Street, and West 207th Street Bridges over the Harlem River, all of which have swing truss spans and the Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River, which has a vertical lift span. Work was performed in accordance with the AASHTO Manual for Condition Evaluation of Bridges, NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Manual, and Uniform Code of Bridge Inspection. The software used included BIPPI electronic reporting software and the VIRTIS load-rating program. SEPC performed work as a sub-consultant on the project.  We performed the following services:

  • 100% Hands on condition inspection
  • Inspection reports
  • Flag reports
  • Prepared sketches using Bentley MicroStation
  • Maintenance and protection of traffic
