Construction Management and Inspection Services for Merrick Road over Millburn Creek Bridge Rehabilitation

The project straddled the towns of Freeport and Baldwin. Milburn Creek flows under Merrick Road via two large concrete box culverts. The spillway drains Milburn Pond on the North side of Merrick Road into Milburn Creek proper on the south side of Merrick Road.

The original infrastructure was constructed in the mid 1950’s, and the concrete culverts have deteriorated with time. The project scope of work entailed exposing the top and the first two feet of soil on the sides of the culverts and inspecting, patching, and waterproofing the two culverts over an approximate 280-foot span. SEPC inspected and performed crack and concrete repairs inside the box culverts. Once the repairs were completed, pavement resurfacing, and replacement of sidewalks were performed.
