Intersection Improvement Study, NY 101 at Middle Neck Road, Freeport, Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County, New York
SEPC conducted the intersection study to alleviate accident and congestion problems involving a hospital located northwest of the intersection. A Project Scoping Report (PSR) was developed to present alternatives to improve the intersection (improve the level of service) to Conceptual Design level. The PSR followed the format in Appendix 7 of the NYSDOT Project Development Manual and provided sufficient details for the recommended alternate so that the design could advance to the Final Design Level via a supplemental agreement. SEPC was responsible for obtaining road history data, field survey, collecting existing roadway and intersection features, roadway cross sections, and field distress survey of pavement and shoulder. Life cycle cost analyses and pavement evaluation report were part of PSR report. The project also included new roadway alignment, evaluation of alternatives and project cost estimates, and final report.
